International Summer Student Program (ISSP)
BCD's highly successful International Summer Student Program affords 20 Norwegian students the opportunity to become immersed in American language and culture as they spend three weeks in July living in the Berkshires. These English speaking students, ranging in age from 14 to 17 spend their weekday mornings in classes on the Brook Farm campus, afternoons on day trips throughout Berkshire County and environs, and weekends with their host families. Other highlights include a trip to Martha's Vineyard, an evening at Tanglewood and a three-day visit to New York City before flying home.

The on-campus activities range from English literature classes to art and theater projects. Afternoons are a mix of cultural events including the Norman Rockwell Museum, Mass Moca, Jacob's Pillow, and outdoor explorations such as hiking, swimming and discovering our beautiful natural environment.

Host families from past years have consistently reported having had wonderful experiences with the students, often forming lasting connections. Additionally, BCD host students frequently join in the activities and trips as mentors.
