The Science Department’s primary objective is to foster scientific literacy and an understanding of science processes, including observation skills, measurement, classification, experimental design, analysis, testing and evaluating, hypothesizing and predicting, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. These skills build a grasp of the scientific method. The Department provides a rich array of courses geared to give students an understanding of the natural world, while also stressing the intellectual skills and tools so vital in scientific observation and understanding of the world we live in. Students graduate Grade 9 with a broad science background and well prepared for their secondary educational experience.
