Visiting BCD
Admission materials are useful but they do not always convey a school's atmosphere. That is why we suggest a campus visit for you and the student and a personal interview with our Director of Admission and Head and Associate Heads of School.

When you schedule your visit to BCD, allow enough time to get a feel for the school. Bring your wish list and notes to the interview, and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions! Remember, the interview is a two-way process allowing you to find out more about us, and helping us to better understand your child. During the interview, take time to honestly discuss your child's candidacy as well as to ask any unanswered questions that may be lingering in your mind. Here are a few to get you started:
  • Is BCD willing and eager to involve parents?
  • How, and how often, does BCD communicate with the family?
  • Do the students you see seem productive, engaged, and happy?
  • How do the teachers interact with their students?
  • What are students at your child's age expected to study?
  • What are the backgrounds and experiences of the faculty?
  • Does BCD provide its teachers with opportunities for continuing professional development?
  • How BCD measures individual achievement and progress?
  • What kind of leadership and governance does the school have?
  • Are faculty and staff involved in decision-making and curriculum development?
  • Does what you see reflect the school's stated mission?
  • What kind of counseling and support services are offered?
  • Does the school feel like a community? Are students interacting with teachers outside as well as inside the classroom?
  • Can you picture your child growing in this environment?
Before you leave Berkshire Country Day School, consider asking for a list of parents you can call for personal referrals. You may feel more comfortable if you can talk to families experiencing the school now. After you leave and have time to reflect on your impressions and what you saw and heard, feel free to call us back and talk about your concerns or any additional questions you may have. We welcome the opportunity for continued discussion.

Directions to BCD
Berkshire Country Day School is located in central Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts. If you are interested in directions to Bekshire Country Day School that are not detailed below, please contact Director of Admission at (413) 637-0755 or admissions@berkshirecountryday.org.

From Berkshire County:
See map at right.

From East Chatham/Old Chatham/Canaan, NY:
Take Route 295 east until it ends (at Route 41). Turn right and follow Route 41 south for 1.4 miles. Turn left onto Lenox Road at a sign that points towards Lenox and Tanglewood (Note: This turn is hard to see because the road goes up over railroad tracks just before the turn. On the right just before the turn, you will see the Richmond Volunteer Fire Company.) Follow Lenox Road through the blinking light and over the mountain. At the end, turn right (onto Route 183) to BCD's Brook Farm Campus on the right about 1 mile down the road.

From New Lebanon, NY area:
Take Route 20 east to Route 41 south. Proceed per above.

From Chatham, NY:
Take Route 203 east until it ends at Route 22. Turn left and follow to Route 102. Turn right onto Route 102 and follow into West Stockbridge. In West Stockbridge the road turns left over a small bridge and then turns right. Go over the bridge but do not turn right. Turn left onto Swamp Road and then make an immediate right (which you will see before you turn) onto Lenox Road (different than above Lenox Road). Follow until the end. Turn right onto Lenox Mountain Road and follow to end (at Route 183). Turn right to BCD's Brook Farm Campus about 1 mile down the road on the right.
